Greetings to the esteemed Sophisticated Southern Region of the National Black Students Association (SRBLSA)!

My name is Cyntiana Germain, and I have the pleasure of serving as the Director of Alumni Affairs for the 2025–26 academic year. In working alongside other members of the Board, I hope to continue to build on the foundation set by our predecessors and push our region to soar and reach new heights.

My vision for SRBLSA this year is for us to truly embody the meaning of lifting as we climb. A strong and engaged alumni network is vital for the continued growth of SRBLSA, as it opens doors to mentorship, growth, and opportunity. Networking is a crucial part of both the law school experience and life post-grad. SRBLSA will be implementing an alumni mentoring program to law school students with SRBLSA alumni. This mentoring program will strive to promote professional excellence and strengthen the connection between Black law students, Black attorneys, and the broader American legal system.

In keeping our alumni engaged and involved in SRBLSA, we plan to work in conjunction with our alumni volunteers to conduct resume reviews and interview workshops, as well as even conduct Fireside Chat series where different alumni in different areas of law, such as public sector, private sector, and government, host a speaker series discussing their area of work and what a typical day looks for them to provide students with insight to different facets within the legal professional.

This region has several trailblazers, and they should be recognized as such. Our monthly alumni newsletters will be spotlighting and celebrating distinguished alumni who have made substantial contributions to the legal profession and exemplify the mission of SRBLSA. We are always seeking nominations for legal professionals who go above and beyond!

SRBLSA is steadfast in its commitment to addressing and combating these disparities within the legal community. Your journey serves as an inspiring testament to what is possible, and now, more than ever, we need your guidance and support. Having successfully crossed these hurdles, your experience and mentorship are invaluable to us as we strive to create a more equitable and inclusive environment for future Black legal professionals. We are excited to push SRBLSA to reach new heights this year, and encourage you to join us in our journey to do so.

Warmly,

Cyntiana Germain
