Greetings SRBLSA Family,

As your Director of Community Service for the 55th Administration, I am excited to share our vision for a year of impactful service across our region. Through our collaborative efforts, we will strengthen our communities while developing ourselves as future legal advocates.

I‘m particularly excited to explore collaborative initiatives amongst local BLSA chapters teams and other SRBLSA divisions, including opportunities for high school students to experience a day in the life of law students. These types of partnerships allow us to create more impactful programming while introducing young students to potential careers in law.

This year, we’re focusing on several key areas:

  • Servant Heart Award Program: Building on past success, we’re implementing new approaches, including easier tracking methods and expanded award categories to better recognize outstanding service contributions from chapters and individuals

  • Regional coordination of service events that bring together multiple BLSA chapters

  • Meaningful community service opportunities during our regional SRBLSA convention

  • Celebration of culturally significant events through service and community engagement

Our vision balances regional coordination with chapter autonomy, allowing us to maintain a unified regional identity while honoring the unique initiatives of each chapter. Together, we’ll track our collective impact through the Servant Heart Award Program while creating meaningful service opportunities throughout the year.

I encourage each of you to engage with these initiatives and share your own ideas. Service is at the heart of our mission as future Black legal professionals, and I am here to support each chapter’s community service efforts in any way possible.

Please don’t hesitate to reach out with questions, ideas, or just to chat in general. I’m available at srblsa.service@nblsa.org and look forward to collaborating with you to make a lasting impact across our region.

In Service and Solidarity,

Liz Kufour
