Dir. of Programming

J.D. Candidate 2027

University of Mississippi School of Law

Greetings SRBLSA Family,

My name is Gabrielle Williams, and I’m a rising 2L at the University of Mississippi School of Law. I have the honor of serving as your Director of Programming for the 2025–2026 term, and I’m incredibly excited to get to work.

Hailing from Camden, Arkansas, I come from a close-knit family where I learned early on the value of community, care, and showing up for people even when it’s hard. I’m also a twin, a singer, and someone who finds peace in audiobooks, binging tv shows (The Good Wife and Abbott Elementary are my faves right now!), writing, and creating. Like many of you, I’ve walked into rooms where I wasn’t sure if I belonged—and I’ve had to remind myself that I do.

I stepped into this role because I believe that our programming should do more than check boxes. It should reflect our realities, affirm our identities, and create spaces where we can grow without having to sacrifice our well-being. I’m committed to building programs that are intentional, inclusive, and sustainable—programs that meet students where they are and walk with them as they push toward where they want to go.

Throughout my term, I’ll be working with chapters, sub-regional leadership, and partner organizations to bring our region programming that is:

  • Rooted in Wellness, because our peace matters as much as our progress,

  • Collaborative, because we are strongest when we uplift one another,

  • Strategic and Student-Centered, because one-size-fits-all never fits us, and

  • Consistent, because structure should support, not stress, Black law students

We’ve got exciting things ahead. This summer, I’ll be hosting a Virtual Planning Retreat with programming leads across the region so we can identify shared goals and start building a programming calendar that reflects the actual needs of our chapters. In the fall, I’ll be partnering with our Sub-Region 2 Director to host an in-person academic retreat, with the goal of supporting other sub-regions in doing the same. We’ll also be launching wellness initiatives—including a collaboration with the Southeastern Law School Consortium—and spotlighting the incredible work being done by our local chapters throughout the year.

But this can’t just be a top-down effort; it has to be a conversation. I want to hear from you. I want to learn from your chapter, amplify your events, and support the work you’re already doing on the ground.

Because whether you’re leading a large chapter or a small one, planning your first event or your fifteenth, you matter. Your voice matters. And this region is stronger because you’re part of it.

I’m so grateful for the opportunity to serve you, and I can’t wait to build something powerful together.

With gratitude and purpose,

Gabrielle Williams, MPA
2025–2026 Director of Programming
