Raegan Meyer,
Dir. of Sub-region 3

J.D. Candidate 2027
University of South Carolina Joseph F. Rice
 School of Law

My name is Raegan Meyer, and I am a 2L at the University of South Carolina Joseph F. Rice School of Law. I was born and raised in North Carolina, but I have gone to school in South Carolina for the past five years, so I feel like this position was made for me.

It is an honor to serve as your 2025-2026 Sub-Region 3 Director for the Southern Regional Black Law Students Association. This is a role that I intend to fulfill to the best of my ability, because I aim for our entire region to thrive this year. This is a big goal, which makes it perfect, because I know you all have big goals. You had to in order to be where you are.

This year, I am ready to facilitate cohesiveness and stimulate growth throughout our region, so we can utilize each of our chapters’ strengths and resources as our own and progress ourselves academically, socially, and professionally.

We will be stronger and more successful using each other– all eight schools across our two states. I will facilitate opportunities for you all to network, help your communities, help each other, develop academically, and be successful black legal professionals. And I want you to facilitate these opportunities, as well. I know you all care about your personal goals being achieved, which is certainly a priority of mine, but I also care about your BLSA family growing. This year, we are growing in our profession and we are growing closer to each other, and I believe the latter will facilitate the former.

Thank you for entrusting me with this responsibility. I am ready to work with and for you all and I hope you are ready, as well.

With Appreciation,

Raegan Meyer

Why she was nominated...

I am pleased to nominate 2L Raegan Meyer for the October Spotlight. Raegan is not only active in the Matthew J. Perry Chapter but also serves as the Director of Sub-region 3. In October, she hosted an Academic Retreat for the North and South Carolina law schools’ chapters of BLSA in Chapel Hill, NC. The Academic Retreat consisted of a day of programming focused on developing BLSA members academically and professionally, with speakers and panels covering topics ranging from bar exam preparation to how to stand out in the interview process. The Retreat also served as a space for networking and community gathering, where students could meet and advise one another on managing their chapters and navigating law school. In addition to her work on the Academic Retreat, Raegan has been in active communication with the executive boards of the North Carolina and South Carolina BLSA chapters, updating them on SRBLSA events, offering support, and answering their questions about chapter management.

Through her work described above, Raegan meets several of the guidelines for SRBLSA Member Spotlight Nomination. She has

  • Shown exceptional leadership or initiative within their chapter and law school;

  • Hosted or co-sponsored a meaningful event or program;

  • Demonstrated innovation or creativity in advancing BLSA’s mission; and

  • Contributed to academic or professional development for peers

In addition, Raegan serves as a student ambassador for the Law School's Office of Admissions, sharing her perspective and experience with prospective and incoming law students.
