SOCIAL ACTION
A Message from your Director of Social Action...

Amber Newsome,
Dir. of Social Action
J.D. Candidate 2026
Florida A&M College of Law
Dear SRBLSA Family,
My name is Amber Newsome, and I am a 3L at Florida A&M University College of Law. I am both humbled and honored to serve as your Director of Social Action for the 2025–2026 term. This role is not just a title, it is a calling that speaks to my passion for justice, advocacy, and collective empowerment.
Last year, I had the privilege of serving as Chair of Social Action for my local BLSA chapter. In that capacity, I organized a range of initiatives, including voter registration drives, early voting trips, and community awareness forums. These experiences fueled my commitment to equipping our communities with the knowledge and tools they need to influence policy and protect our rights. It became clear to me that engagement is power and informed engagement is transformative.
This year, as we stand on the shoulders of those who came before us, we will take a deep dive into the past, present, and future of social and legal action in this country. We will examine the historical policies that have shaped our lived experiences, confront the challenges we currently face, and explore the emerging movements and solutions that will shape our collective future.
As your Director of Social Action, I am committed to being a reliable resource, a strong advocate, and a vocal supporter for every chapter in our region. I want to ensure that you have the tools to effectively address issues in your local communities and the support to speak truth to power. Whether it's understanding how new legislation may affect us or organizing action-based responses to injustice, I’m here to ensure you’re not doing it alone.
Together, we will engage, educate, and empower. Let’s continue to rise boldly, strategically, and united.
In service and solidarity,
Amber Newsome
2025–2026 Director of Social Action
Southern Region Black Law Students Association
